Packing for a long trip can be stressful. You know you want to have everything you’ll need, but will you be able to lift your luggage when you get it packed?. Then you also have to consider what to pack for your return trip.

Where to Go During Winter

Winter travel means skiing and snowboarding. There are many ski resorts in the world so you should select the ones with the best amenities. Also, take note of the weather conditions in the region. Your local travel agent should be able to tell you which destinations are the best for whatever activity you have in mind.

What to Pack for Winter Hiking

Hiking during the winter holidays? Planning for a theme holiday can be a pain or a pleasure. The things you bring must suit the activities you’re planning on doing. You also need to consider for how long you will be in the location.

Your Gear

Let’s look at winter hiking boots. Get the best pair of hiking boots you can afford. Keep your feet comfortable during your hike so that you don’t get injured. Out in the wilderness during winter, you must always take care of your eyes. To prevent snow blindness, it is recommended to use sunglasses that transmit 5-10 % of visible light and absorb almost all UV rays.

Look for bright colored markers like flags so that you can mark your route. Also, look for small flares that you can use to signal for help if you ever need to.

A Kit for First Aid

Travel First Aid Kit is a must-have. First aid items are a must if you’re planning an outdoors adventure. The basics include bandages, splints and anti-inflammation ointments. Trekking is a challenging sport because there are dangers you should deal with. Preparing for small and big injuries is the best way to pack a first aid kit. Bring enough for sharing. You never know which group member might need your first aid kit.

Don’t bring anything fancy, but you need unscented soap and anti-allergy medication too. Unscented soaps are less likely to cause rashes, which is important if the skin you’re treating is inflamed. Make sure the kit you will be using is watertight. Soaked bandages are no good.

Clothes

Warm clothes are staple during winter. Bring lightweight items that can be layered. You can take one layer off if it’s warmer than you anticipated. Lightweight clothes will fit inside a small backpack.

When considering which items to bring along with you, think about your accommodations. Is a tent your only residence for the duration? Will you be staying in a rented cabin with your hiking buddies? The reason why you should know about these things has something to do with your laundry. If you can find a way to wash clothes, you won’t have to bring many clothes.
